Hurricane Action Day Builds Community Preparedness

Seminole County hosted its second annual Hurricane Action Day on Saturday, May 31, bringing together residents and emergency management professionals for a day of storm preparation.

Workshops included sessions on chainsaw safety, disaster legal aid, and family emergency planning. The event concluded with a Volunteer Expo, connecting residents with local groups that support disaster response and recovery efforts.

Residents who sign up to become volunteers can make an impact by supporting vulnerable populations—such as the elderly or individuals with disabilities—with essential housework before and after a storm.
