Local and National Leaders Urge Residents to Prepare For Hurricane Season

At the start of hurricane season, Seminole County hosted a joint news conference to emphasize the importance of storm readiness ahead of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. Held in the Emergency Operations Center, the event brought together Vice Chair Andria Herr, Commissioner Amy Lockhart, Senator Rick Scott, Congressman Cory Mills, Congressman Randy Fine, Sheriff Dennis Lemma and other public safety leaders.

“We can’t protect you if you don’t lean in ahead of the storm and protect yourself,” said Commissioner Herr. “We’re here for you. We need you to be here for you as well.”

Speakers emphasized the importance of checking generators in advance, making sure pets are part of your disaster plan, stocking up on essentials over time, and staying connected through AlertSeminole.org. The message was clear: now is the time to plan ahead.
