Step Behind the Scenes: Seminole County’s 2026 Citizen’s Academy
Seminole County’s Citizen’s Academy returns this spring with a free, family-friendly open-house series that gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at how County departments serve the community.
The six-event series runs April 18 through May 9, with each session highlighting a different department through tours, demonstrations, and interactive experiences.
Environmental Services & Utilities | April 18, 10 a.m. – noon | South East Regional Water Supply Facility 3304 Dike Road, Winter Park: Tour the treatment plant and learn about recycling and conservation.
Public Works | April 23, 6 – 8 p.m. | Public Works Building 140 Bush Loop, Sanford: Find out about roads, traffic management, and County equipment.
Emergency Management | April 29, 6 – 8 p.m. | Seminole County Animal Services 232 Eslinger Way, Sanford: See 911 operations, Animal Services, and meet adoptable pets.
Fire Department | May 2, 10 a.m. – noon | Fire Station 39 5639 1st Street, Sanford: Check out our newest Fire Station 39, try a Fire Fitness challenge, and learn CPR.
Development Services | May 7, 6 – 8 p.m. | County Services Building 1101 E. 1st Street, Sanford: Understand zoning, permitting, and Code Enforcement.
Parks & Recreation | May 9, 10 a.m. – noon | Central Branch Library 215 N. Oxford Road, Casselberry: Enjoy storytime, meet animals, and discover local green spaces.
Each event offers a chance to meet the teams, explore facilities, and learn how essential services are delivered across Seminole County.
