On March 25, 2026, Seminole County Public Works broke ground on the Midway Drainage Improvement Project, marking a major step forward in efforts to enhance flood mitigation and infrastructure in the historic Midway community. Chairman and District 5 Commissioner Andria Herr led the groundbreaking ceremony, joined by County Commissioners, project staff, and local residents. 

The groundbreaking celebrated the start of construction on the project’s first three phases, which will help address long-standing drainage challenges and improve resiliency for the area. The initiative represents a continued investment in the safety and sustainability of the Midway community.
