Amy Lockhart is a native of Lighthouse Point, FL, but has called Central Florida home since 1996.

Amy has a background in marketing and sales and operated her own consulting business prior to working for the citizens of Seminole County as a member of the Board of County Commissioners’ staff. Her work with local government, knowledge of the public sector’s budget process, and solid relationships with different community groups, equip her with a unique perspective in her roles and responsibilities.

First elected to the School Board in 2012, and re-elected in 2016, Amy served as vice-chairman and chairman. Elected to the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners in 2018 and again in 2022, Amy provides a valuable relational link for Seminole County entities.

Amy also serves on the following boards: The Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission (CFCRC) aka SunRail, LYNX Board of Directors, District 24 Medical Examiner Board, the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, as well as the Florida Association of Counties' Institute for County Government.

Governor Rick Scott appointed Amy to serve on the Seminole State College Board of Trustees in 2014 and again in 2018. She was awarded the "Trustee of the Year" for the state of Florida in 2021, and in 2022, Amy was again appointed to serve on the Board of Trustees by Governor Ron DeSantis.

Amy has served in volunteer leadership roles supporting the work of organizations such as: Seminole County Young Life, Sallie Harrison Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens, the Foundations for both Seminole State and Seminole County Public Schools, SafeHouse of Seminole for which she received the 2008 “Leadership Award”, and the Scottish American Society of Central Florida for which she received the 2013 "Brave Lass" Award. Amy was recognized as a "Woman of the Year" by Orange Appeal Magazine in 2019, and in 2024 was honored to have the Emerald Awards – Salute to Black Excellence in Seminole County – “Person of Year Award” named in her honor.

Amy and her husband, Tim, have been married for 32 years, and have two grown children, Karis (SHS c/o ‘14 and UCF '18) and Jake (LMHS c/o ’19, FSU '23), both of whom attended Idyllwilde Elementary and Sanford Middle. They now share their Sanford home with two golden doodles, Maggie and Bear.  In her “spare time”, she enjoys tending her kitchen garden, raising chickens, cooking, and researching genealogy. The Lockharts attend Holy Cross Episcopal Church where Amy serves on the vestry.
